The Charcoal Grill

Smoke, fire and patience.

Everything that matters here happens over charcoal. Racks of marinated lamb chops laid across the grill, turned by hand until the fat chars and the spice blooms. That smoke in the meat, the dhuan, is the flavour Pakistani grills are judged on.

It is how this food has always been cooked, and we are not about to change it. Live coals, fresh naan from the tandoor, nothing from a gas flame.

A room painted like the trucks of Karachi.

Beef Nihari

Simmered slowly overnight until the beef gives way to the spoon. Finished the way nihari should be: fresh ginger, green chilli and a squeeze of lemon.

Charcoal Lamb Chops

The house signature. Marinated overnight, grilled over live charcoal until charred at the edge and blushing at the bone.

Beef Biryani

Basmati layered with tender beef and whole spices, then steamed so every grain carries the masala.

Karahi, made to order

Cooked to order in the karahi it arrives in, finished over the flame and brought to the table still bubbling.

Artisan Mocktails

Yes. 47 Restaurant is a fully halal, HMC-certified Pakistani restaurant in Wigston, Leicester. All of our meat is halal and everything is cooked the traditional way, from the charcoal grill to karahi made to order and nihari simmered slowly overnight.

How do I book a table?

You can book online through our website in under a minute, or call us on 0116 292 1692. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows, but we recommend booking ahead, especially on weekends.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday 5pm to 11pm, Wednesday to Friday 5pm to 11pm, Saturday 10am to 3pm and 5pm to 11pm, Sunday 10am to 3pm and 5pm to 10pm. We are closed on Tuesdays. Holiday hours can vary, so please check our contact page for the latest times.

Is there parking near the restaurant?

Yes. Free street parking is available on Leicester Road and nearby side streets, and there is a public car park on Bell Street, a short walk from the restaurant.
